Spanish and Cultural Studies in The Rural Town of Chalchihuites, Zacatecas
The town of the eternal friendship
What to Bring?
Chalchihuites is located in a semi-arid
zone, at approximately 8000 feet above sea level. Its thin, transparent
atmosphere makes for pleasant, hot days and cool, crisp nights.
Consequently, it is advisable to bring light clothing for summer
days and a warm sweater for nights at all times of the year. Students
may find that, in winter, the townspeople use fewer blankets and
heat their homes less than they are accustomed to in their own homes.
Therefore, a sleeping bag or an extra blanket may come in handy.
It is also recommended to bring sturdy footwear capable of enduring
Chalchihuites’ rough cobblestone streets and occasional excursions
to nearby sites. Although there are no specific rules as to appropriate
dress, many of the local people "dress up" for the frequent
dances and "fiestas". |
